The Gerspacher Real Estate Group is a family owned business that spans three generations and nearly 60 years of real estate expertise.
Gerspacher Real Estate Begins
In 1930, Melvin Gerspacher’s family moved from Parma, Ohio to a small farm in Medina. An entrepreneur from an early age, Gerspacher work in the post office and ran his own trucking company. He joined the Navy in 1944 and returned home in 1945 to his wife, young son, and job at the post office. In 1952, he received his real estate license and went to work for a local real estate and insurance firm. As they say, the rest is history. He quickly began putting together investors and developing property – residential, commercial and senior housing. His venture into real estate grew to eight offices in three counties, and a commercial and property management division.
A Commercial and Industrial Real Estate Emphasis is Forged
Having been involved in real estate since 1971, Mel’s son, James Gerspacher, assumed leadership of the firm. Building on the family’s well-respected reputation of real estate knowledge and expertise, he brought its focus to commercial and industrial real estate in 1992. Utilizing his years of experience in real estate and his law degree, Jim took the firm to new levels. Not only did Jim become a leader in the commercial real estate field, but he has also been recognized and consistently honored as a major influence in the successful growth and development of Medina County.
Gerspacher Real Estate Group Third Generation
In 2004, Mel’s grandson, Troy Gerspacher, moved from fast-paced corporate sales to join the real estate business as an agent. Working with his uncle, Jim, he brought his knowledge of technology and sales to the firm. In 2007, he purchased the firm and it became The Gerspacher Real Estate Group. It now includes the commercial brokerage and Forest Meadows Villas, a senior housing development that was built by his grandfather. Under Troy’s leadership, the firm has been recognized by Crain’s Cleveland Business as one of the top commercial real estate firms in Northeast Ohio. Troy was also honored by Crain’s in 2013 as a “40 Under 40” recipient for his professional success and community involvement.
After successfully weathering the 2008 economic downturn, the Gerspacher Real Estate Group is experiencing rapid growth and expansion. In addition to adding agents with a wealth of knowledge and experience, the firm has branched into commercial property management. The current staff has completed thousands of deals and now brings over 100 years of combined brokerage experience to its clients.
